19 killed in bus-truck collision in Tirupur close to Coimbatore. (Photo: ANI)

At least 19 individuals had been killed and 15 others suffered accidents when a bus in which they had been travelling collided with a truck in Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu in the wee hours at present, information company ANI reported. The incident befell on the Coimbatore-Salem Highway in Avinashi city round three AM, Deputy Tehsildar mentioned.

The bus collided head-on with a container lorry. There had been 48 passengers travelling in the bus. The deceased embrace six girls.

The bus belonged to Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). It was going to Thiruvananthapuram from Bengaluru in Karnataka.

According to police, the lorry was coming from the wrong way when the mishap occurred. Reports recommend that the truck was carrying tiles and marbles. The driver of the truck is amongst these killed in the mishap.

Kerala Transport Minister AK Saseendran mentioned that the state authorities pays for the therapy of the injured passengers.

“Senior officials from Kerala State Road Transport Corporation have rushed to the site. KSRTC Managing Director will conduct an inquiry and submit a report,” Saseendran mentioned.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has instructed Palakkad district collector to offer emergency medical care to the victims of the accident, his workplace mentioned.

“Procedures to identify the deceased are in progress and all possible relief measures will be taken in cooperation with the government of Tamil Nadu and the District Collector of Tirupur,” the CMO mentioned in a press release.
