We all miss those days when we could go out without a second thought; we didn’t have to think if it was safe to order in or if our favourite chaat place has to be avoided because of the crowd. The moment we craved some street food, we would go and get it. But that’s not the case right now; with pandemic, we have had to not only keep ourselves clean and sanitsed but also our food. Sadly, in this case, quickly sneaking out for your favourite chole bhatures and samosa is not possible, neither is it advised.

Now, if you are anyone like us, we know the thought of chapata chaats in the evening is making your stomach growl with hunger. Even we can’t decide what we miss the most, the compulsory extra sukha puri or the last bite of the delicious momo, but we can do is not leave you sad and salivating in your seats. We found just the right thing to light up your mundane day, a street famous aloo kulhad chaat that is so easy make that you won’t be able to stop yourself from making it every single day.

There are a number of easy homemade chaats that you can make

In our search for an easy home-made snack, we came across a video by Parul Gupta on her YouTube channel ‘Cook with Parul’ which seems to be the answer to all of our questions. A spicy aloo chaat, with dollops of chilled curd, topped with crispy papdis. The best part is that you don’t have to sacrifice your entire evening making this snack, it is easy but even better that it is quick to make. What else do you ask for? How To make 10 min street-style aloo chaat/ Aloo handi chaat recipe:

Boil aloo and overnight soaked matar until soft. In a pan take oil, add onion, ginger garlic, dhaniya powder, jeera powder, chaat masala, red chilli powder, haldi and salt. Don’t shy away from using these masalas since it is a chaat it has to have a powerful flavour. After this is cooked, add matar and aloo and mash everything well. Add some more chopped onions and tomato and mix everything well. Once the aloo matar is ready, serve in bowls or kulhads, add chilled curd on top, crushed papdi or sev and garnish well just like you favourite chaat waale bhaiya.
