Seasoned Destiny 2 players know they can count on the elusive merchant Xur to make an appearance with special exotic items every Friday, but what’s not so clear is where you’ll be able to find him. Below, you’ll find a map with a marker that indicates where Xur is and provides his list of wares.
Who is Xur?
If you’re new to Destiny 2 and need a bit more information about how this works, you’ll need to know that Xur is a special vendor who sells exotic weapons and armor. Each week, he comes to the solar system with a slate of goods, including an exotic weapon and one piece of Exotic armor for each character class. Lately, he’s also been carrying Fated Engrams, which guarantee players an exotic drop they don’t already have from the collection of exotics from before the release of Shadowkeep.
Where to find Xur
The trouble with Xur is finding him. We always know when Xur will show up — at the daily reset at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET each Friday. The question is where Xur is. While previously in Destiny 2, Xur’s location was marked on the map each weekend, he’s now unmarked and thus tougher to find each weekend. Here’s where you need to go to track down Xur, the Agent of the Nine, and everything you need to know about what he’s offering this week.
Xur’s wares for this week
(January 3 to January 7)
This week, you can find Xur at Giant Scar on Io. To get to him, fast travel to the Giant Scar landing zone. Ride your sparrow straight through the building in front of you, and hang a left when you exit it. Hug the wall and keep going left until you reach a cave. Pop in there, and you’ll find Xur in the back ready to sell you some exotics.
Here is the exact location:
And here’s what Xur has for wares.
Lord of Wolves – 29 Legendary Shards: When it comes to exotic weapons, few have caused as much of a stir as Lord of Wolves did when it first dropped. This exotic shotgun fires a massive solar burst, which can be charged to create an even larger shot. The weapon was famously nerfed in 2018, but it’s still worth checking out if you love shotgun chaos.
Sanguine Alchemy (Warlock) – 23 Legendary Shards: Sanguine Alchemy is a great exotic choice for Crucible enthusiasts. This chest armor is all about giving you and your fireteam “heightened senses” while standing in a rift. While standing in one, your radar will stay active while aiming down sights. You can also better track powerful enemies with this, as they’ll be visually marked even when you don’t have a line of sight on them.
ST0MP-EE5 (Hunter) – 23 Legendary Shards: If mobility is a major part of your playstyle, ST0MP-EE5 are great exotic legs that come with a lot of buffs. These boots will increase your sprint speed and slide distance, as well as improve Hunter abilities like High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.
Dunemarchers (Titans) – 23 Legendary Shards: Titans looking for some new legs get Dunemarchers this week. Like Transversive Steps, these exotic boots increase your sprint speed. Every time you spring, you’ll build up a static charge. When you melee an enemy, that charge will chain to any nearby enemies as well.
Isochronal Engram – 97 Legendary Shards: You can only buy one of these Engrams per week, per account, but if you’re filling out your exotic collection, it’s worth it. The Fated Engram automatically gives you something you’re missing from the Destiny 2 Year 1 and 2 exotic sets, and now Forsaken as well.
Five of Swords: Xur is also offering the Five of Swords challenge this week. This challenge introduces modifiers to Prestige Nightfall missions for increased rewards.
And don’t forget that The Dawning is currently happening, which means that you can bake and deliver Strange Cookies to Xur this weekend. Don’t you think it’s time that you give him a gift for a change?
